Olga Sliwinska is an undergraduate student at Heriot-Watt University, studying psychology. As part of her dissertation, she is conducting a study, titled ‘Mental health services from the perspective of the user. Investigating preferred routes of treatment of users with depression and bipolar disorder’ and she would like to invite you to take part.

Olga’s study focuses on mental health services and how they are viewed by service users such as yourself. If you do decide to participate, you will be asked to complete a series of questionnaires online, or on paper if you prefer. You can complete this survey in your own time, and wherever you wish. The answers will only be looked at by the research team, and will be kept separate from any personal data such as names and contact details. These will all be kept on a password protected laptop, for a period of five years.

If you do decide to take part but then don’t feel comfortable answering any of the questions, you are allowed to stop at any time you wish. This will not impact you negatively at all. The study is also anonymous, so you don’t have to worry about someone recognizing your answers. If after completing the study you don’t wish to be included anymore, you are completely within your rights contacting Olga at oas30@hw.ac.uk or Olga’s supervisor at m.mckendrick@hw.ac.uk and your details will be removed. If you have any other questions, you can use the contact details provided to get in touch with me or my supervisor, and we will answer your questions as best as we can.

If you would like to participate, please email Olga at oas30@hw.ac.uk and she will give you an online link to the survey. If you choose to complete the survey, all you need to do is submit it after you’re done, and the information will be sent directly to Olga.

If you would like to contact somebody else about the study please email Olga’s supervisor
