Our Bipolar Self-Help Group meets in Bathgate Partnership Centre on the 2nd Thursday of every month, 7-9pm. There was a meeting on Thursday 14th April and the next meeting will be on Weds 12th May. If you are living with bipolar as a friend/family/carer or have been diagnosed, you are very welcome to attend – no referral necessary

Hello, I would like to take the plunge and attend the west Lothian self help group every 2nd Thursday in Bathgate however I’m not great with large groups or new people. Can you tell me a little bit more about this group, it’s size in numbers etc? I am willing to give further contact details as required. I’m sure you will understand how difficult this is.

          Hi
The group usually has between 7-10 people attending every meeting and they are a very friendly bunch. The group facilitator (Andy) is a carer as his wife has a bipolar diagnosis and he is very approachable and down to earth. The group is for people with a bipolar diagnosis AND family, friends, carers etc so if you wanted to come along with a friend or family member, you would both be very welcome. I do hope you can make it along but if you have any further questions about the group, please feel free to call the office on 0141 560 2050 and ask to speak to Graeme, Alison or Lesley and we can answer any questions you may have.

Hi will try to attend the next meeting with my daughter who has just been dignosed is it 14 th July at 7 ?

    • Graeme Bowman says:

Yes, the next meeting is at 7pm on 14th July at the Bathgate Partnership Centre, South Bridge Street, Bathgate EH48 1TS. Its a big modern building incorporating a library and lots of meeting rooms for various community groups. Graham Morgan from the Mental Welfare Commission will be giving a talk and answering questions for the first hour or so. The Mental Welfare Commission was set up to protect the rights of all people with mental health issues and he’s a very enthusiastic and committed speaker so it should be quite interesting. I hope you and your daughter are able to attend!

The West Lothian group is having its usual monthly meeting at the Bathgate Partnership Centre on Thursday 13 Oct (7-9pm). The planned visit by Neil Findlay has been rescheduled so we will chat and catch up on the recent Mental Health and Physical Wellbeing Day at the Strathbrock Partnership Centre last Wednesday (5 Oct).
